Moscow hit in another drone attack

Around 4 a.m., local time, two drones crashed into office buildings in Moscow. Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported on his Telegram channel that the incidents caused no serious injuries to bystanders or damage to the buildings, though images circulating on social media show the windows of one high rise’s top corner totally blown out.

Spokespeople for Russia’s Defense Ministry (which has a headquarters close by and was likely the drones’ target) attributed the UAVs to “the Kyiv regime” and called the incident a “terrorist attack.” The military says it used “means of electronic warfare” to down the drones before they could carry out their mission.

• A day earlier, Russia launched a missile attack on Odesa and hit the Transfiguration Cathedral, Odesa’s largest Orthodox church, belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper reported that one person was killed, and 19 others were injured in the attack, including four children. 14 people were hospitalized. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that “there will definitely be a retaliation” to this attack.
