The Moscow District Military Court has agreed to hold a jury trial for the murder of the opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, who was shot and killed in Moscow in early 2015. Jury selection is scheduled to begin on August 24. The five men accused of planning and carrying out the murder asked the court for a jury trial.
- Investigators believe that the five men in custody carried out the murder of Boris Nemtsov in exchange for 15 million rubles ($227,000). The supposed mastermind behind the assassination is a man named Ruslan Mukhudinov, who's now missing and wanted by police.
- The lawyers of Nemtsov's relatives believe the true person who ordered the attack is Ruslan Geremeev, a former officer in the Chechen security services. Attorneys have demanded repeatedly that police question Geremeev, but he's neither a suspect nor a witness in the case.
