Source: Russian Deputy PM accidentally shoots himself in the leg

Earlier today a source reported to Interfax that Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin had accidentally shot himself in the leg while practicing at shooting range. Following the incident, Rogozin had been sent to a Moscow hospital, said the source.

A few hours later, however, the same source retracted this claim and put forward a new story. “Last week, [Deputy Prime Minister] Rogozin was placed on sick leave due to a sports injury he sustained while playing handball,” says the source.

The news comes in explanation of the Deputy Prime Minister's absence from a meeting of cabinet ministers with President Vladimir Putin.

In a follow up to source's original claim, TASS news agency cited its own source in Rogozin's office, who supported the handball story. The office source says Rogozin has already returned to work.

Deputy Prime Minister Rogozin's purview includes the Russian defense, aerospace, and shipbuilding industries, and the management of emergency situations.
