Picketers calling for Putin's impeachment outside Russian State Duma arrested

Russian police have arrested a small gathering under a single picket sign calling for Vladimir Putin's impeachment. The Panama Papers allegations, which connect the Russian President to a money hiding scheme using offshore companies, were what had prompted the two-person picket.

The two-person picket consisted of members of the Progress Party, Nikolai Lyaskin Daria Yatsenko. Lyaskin says a third passerby who was taking a picture of the picket sign was also arrested.

On April 3, Novaya Gazeta published several articles on Russian connections to the Panama Papers. One of the articles, “The Golden Score,” traces $2 billion in assets belonging to a company belonging to a close friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin's, cellist Sergei Roldugin.
