Lukashenko tells ‘RT’ that the voices on last week’s ‘intercepted conversation’ about Navalny’s poisoning were Americans

The alleged negotiations between Warsaw and Berlin that Belarusian intelligence claimed to have intercepted last week involved Americans, rather than Germans or Poles, said Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko (Alyaksandr Lukashenka) in an interview with RT on Wednesday, September 9.

According to Lukashenko, a full recording of the conversation has been handed over to the head of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), Alexander Bortnikov. “We have a copy but no original. A real copy of this voice. English, the whole thing. Specialists say that it’s not Germans or Poles talking, but Americans speaking, unequivocally. Because Americans have such specific English,” Lukashenko said.

Lukashenko refused to publish the full recording, since “it’s already the property of the FSB,” but at the same time added “these were the flowers, we’re about to get some berries.”

• During a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on September 3, Alexander Lukashenko said that Belarusian intelligence had intercepted a conversation between Poland and Germany, in which the speakers allegedly claimed that the data confirming Alexey Navalny’s poisoning with a Novichok-type nerve agent was falsified. The next day, a recording of this alleged conversation between “Mike from Warsaw and Nick from Berlin” appeared in Belarusian state media. Many doubted the authenticity of the recording, which became the subject of various jokes. The Kremlin called the recording “special material,” which can only be assessed by the intelligence services.
