Second criminal case opened against critic of Chechen authorities

The investigating authorities of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case against a human rights activist, a native of Chechnya, Abubakar Yangulbaev, under the article on incitement to terrorism (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). This is reported by the telegram channel "Caution, news".

According to the channel, Yangulbaev was charged with incitement to terrorism because of a comment last year in which he expressed the hope that "on May 9, 2022, TNT will be blown up in the same way that it exploded on May 9, 2004." Recall that Ramzan Kadyrov's father Akhmat Kadyrov died on May 9, 2004 due to an explosion at a stadium in Grozny.

Prior to this, a criminal case against Abubakar Yangulbaev was opened under the article “Organization of extremist activity”. The reason was his videos criticizing the Russian authorities on the YouTube channel of the 1ADAT project (banned in Russia) and on his personal Telegram channel.

Earlier, his brothers, Ibragim and Baisangur Yangulbaev, were also charged with extremist articles. In addition, in 2022, their mother, Zarema Musayeva, was kidnapped in Nizhny Novgorod and taken to Chechnya, where she was recently sentenced to five and a half years on charges of assaulting a police officer.

The Yangulbaev family was forced to emigrate abroad. Abubakar recently reported that four of his relatives were forcibly sent to the war with Ukraine - an uncle and three cousins.
