Activist from Kirov creates installations in memory of peasants who died in World War I
Activist and artist Fyodor Kalinin created two installations (diptych) in memory of the peasants whose lives were taken by the First World Imperialist War. One part of the work is called "The Peasant"; it is a man shaped pit. Another installation, "Soldier", is a peasant "torn out" from the ground. Kalinin told 7x7 about this.
"The Peasant" is located in a field near one of the Kirov villages. The installation "Soldier" is located in the historical district of Kirov.
According to the social activist’s concept, the peasant is "flesh of the flesh of the Russian land, which feeds him, and then takes him back." According to Fyodor Kalinin, "a peasant forced to be a soldier sooner or later turns into a dark substance, a medley spreading over the ruins of the environment contrary to his essence."
"It is important for me to understand many processes of the First World Imperialist War. And I also comprehend the tragedy of the peasantry. Looking at the work, viewers draw an analogy for themselves," Kalinin said.
Fyodor Kalinin was elected to the City Duma from the Communist Party in September 2022, but is not a member of the party. Together with activists, he created a community that strives for the implementation of transport reform in Kirov.
On September 11, Kalinin caught the United Russia Party’s leaflet poster, Daniil Mamin. He called the police and filed an application for violation of the law on election campaigning. The poster was taken to the department to be drawn up a protocol.
