FEEDBACK – LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Respected Editors,

It was with great interest that I got acquainted with the third special issue of your magazine. Personally, I identified most with the first one, devoted to women’s participation in the political process. I myself was elected deputy to the district assembly, so I know this work not from hearsay. I really liked T. Fedyaeva’s article [on being a district deputy] and I am largely in agreement with her. We’ve all known for a long time that local government was and is sustained by women.

The theme of trafficking in human beings [the focus of the third special issue] was a real surprise to me. I knew hardly anything about it and, frankly speaking, I didn’t realize it is such an acute problem here in our country. Ludmila Yerokina is right, often we don’t help victims, simply because we don’t understand the nature of the problem. I think this issue of the magazine should be essential reading for all officials whose job it is to protect our rights.
