Twerking bees under assessment from Russia’s Investigative Committee

The Investigative Committee of Russia will examine a video of female dancers dressed as bees twerking for Winnie the Pooh. Investigators will perform a legal assessment of actions taken by the heads of the dance school and the overarching organization. The Investigative Committee reports that the dancers are under 18 years old.

The video of the dance spread quickly throughout the Internet on April 13. When this news went online, the video already had 2.9 million views.

At the moment, a series of inspections is taking place which aim to establish all the circumstances leading to the event. The inspection will include a legal assessment of the actions taken by officials from the administration of the dance school and from the school’s overarching organization.

Russia’s Federal Investigative Committee

  • The bumble bee dance was performed by a dance group from a youth dance school in Orenburg, a city just north of Russia’s border with Kazakhstan. Most of the performers are 18 years old, but some are 16 and 17 years of age. According to news website LifeNews, the dance school has decided to drop twerking from its dance repertoire.
