Vladimir Putin saves an elderly veteran woman from falling during a WWII ceremony
On an official visit to Siberia today, Vladimir Putin managed to catch an elderly veteran woman, when she nearly fell while standing on a stage, during a World War II commemoration ceremony. The incident took place in Chita, where Putin laid flowers at a memorial to the "military and labor glory of the Transbaikalians."
The veteran Putin rescued is 93-year-old Yelena Shekhtman, who asked the President to honor Chita with the designation of "City of Military Glory," an honorary title bestowed upon the citizenry of Russian cities, where soldiers had displayed special courage and heroism during the Second World War.
