This Moscow company plans to rent out coffins

By the end of this year, the first coffin rental company may open its doors in Moscow. The patent application for the brand “Rent-a-coffin” (written in Russian) has already been submitted to Russia’s Federal Patent Agency.
The brand has been registered by a company called Nekropol. According to commercial director Ivan Moiseyev, the company plans to rent out their elaborate graves for farewell rituals, while the clients' actual burials take place in simpler graves that families have purchased.
The company’s representatives say that they are certain this will give many families a chance to save money at a time of economic crisis. They plan to rent out graves for 10 percent of their basic price, from about 500 rubles to 7,000 rubles per day ($7.60 to $106.70).
The company also says it will have to think carefully about developing the conditions for attracting its first clients, given the specificity and novelty of the new service
“This is the first service of this kind in Russia—there are no analogues, yet. The idea is that, for the ceremony of saying farewell to the deceased, you will be able to rent a beautiful, well-made coffin for one day or for several days, and use a regular one for burial or cremation. We are planning to launch the service before the end of this year,” said the commercial director of Nekropol, Ivan Moiseyev.
