Too drunk to board the right plane, this 22 year old flew to the wrong side of Russia
Earlier this week, a young man heading home to Yakutsk from Moscow decided to stop for a drink with friends at the airport. Next he had another drink, and then a few more. When it came time to board his plane, the 22-year-old man stumbled onto an aircraft bound for Krasnodar, not Yakutsk, which is on the opposite side of the Russian Federation.
According to the man, he boarded an airplane, found a random unoccupied seat, and fell asleep. He awoke in Krasnodar, only learning his mistake when he tried to exit the airport and was stopped by police who asked to see his documents. The officers quickly determined that he had flown into the city without a plane ticket.
The distance between Moscow and Krasnodar is 1,300 kilometers (more than 800 miles), while the distance between Moscow and Yakutsk is more than 8,000 kilometers (nearly 5,000 miles).
The man will be charged with the misdemeanor of violating a transportation safety law. He faces a maximum fine of 5,000 rubles (about $76).
