If you check the website of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service, you won't find Crimea listed as part of Russia

The Federal Guard Service (which protects the president) and the Foreign Intelligence Service both published versions of the Russian Constitution that fail to list the Republic of Crimea and the federal city of Sevastopol as parts of the Russian Federation.

The two security agencies' versions of Article 65 differ from the text currently available on the Kremlin's website.

Several other government agencies (including Russia's Accounts Chamber, the Interior Ministry's Main Directorate on Migration Issues, and regional offices of the Investigative Committee) also host versions of the Constitution that do not mention Crimea.

• Following a referendum that is contested around the world, Russia formally absorbed Crimea more than two years ago, in March 2014. Ukraine and most other countries do not recognize Moscow's territorial claims on the peninsula and regard the absorption as an illegal annexation.
