Smoke from forest fires turns the sky red in Russia’s Yakutia
Milena Nagovitsyna / TASS No, it’s not photoshop. Smoke from the forest fires that are still raging in Russia’s Far Eastern region of Yakutia has turned the sky red over the village Chagda (Kobyaysky District). As of Monday, August 2, there are 164 active forest fires spread across 16 of Yakutia’s districts. The picture above was taken in Chagda at 3:30 p.m. local time. The local news outlet SakhaPress reported that two other villages in the Kobyaysky District, Kobyay and Bagdya, were left in total darkness for some time on Monday after the smoke completely covered the sun.
