Barking Store - a store with a private shelter for animals 50pets - released a collection in support of the media, announced in Russia by “foreign agents”: “Medusa”, “Mediazones” and “Important Stories”. Huds and T -shirts are printed with different prints, but everyone depicts kittens.
Why cats? 🐱🐈
“It turned out that on each of our prints there are cats. Russia is a cat -centric country , unlike the United States, where dogs are more likely to start. In a sense, cats are our real screening, ”explains the founder of the store Roman Belousov.
Merch for Medusa refers to the famous scene from the film "Fear and Hatred in Las Vegas." Two funny cats travel on a convertible along a deserted highway. One of them drives a car, the second holds a laptop in his hands with an open tab Medusa (logical). On the print it says: “We had 2 specialists, 5 newsletters, 3 warnings of Roskomnadzor. The only thing that caused me fears was the donates . I knew that sooner or later we would switch to this rubbish ”(🙈).

Barking Store began working on a joint measure with Medusa a couple of months ago. Then there were no more than 20 people and the media declared by the “foreign agents” on the list of the Ministry of Justice . When we came up with a print for Medusa, we decided that it was appropriate to get through the popular scene from “fear and hatred in Las Vegas”. Heroes rush in a Ugar on the desert, one steers, the second writes, and they (in a professional sense) tried everything except financing through donates. But they had to switch to this rubbish. Although in fact the donated economy is pretty to me.
The kitten "Mediazons" looks out the window, and in the reflection the picture familiar to many: helmets, batons, metal fences. At some point, I decided to play it safe and, although the faces of the police are not visible, I changed the chin of one of them to the chin of DiCaprio. As they say, all coincidences are accidental.
As for the “important stories”, we had long wanted to make a print where the cat is sleeping or walking along the keyboard, informing the world. It seemed to me that this is ideal for the publication that specializes in investigations, on which they work for a long time at night, possibly with tea, glass or a whole bottle of wine on the table.
How did Barking Store appear?
Roman Belousov is from Moscow. He entered the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University in 2002, but did not graduate him. In 2004, he began disagreements with the leadership of the biofac about animal experiments: Belousov believed that they were carried out with violations. The conflict lasted several years, and in 2007, Belousov was expelled from Moscow State University-but a bioetics commission appeared at the faculty.
In 2004, Roman and his mother sheltered five puppies selected at a construction site. Only two of them managed to attach, the rest remained to live with Belousov - although he already had two dogs. After that, he realized that from a one -room apartment you need to cross the city. Having moved in the same year in the suburbs, Roman Belousov took up sterilization of street dogs. And right in the house where the novel settled, he arranged a private shelter of 50pets , which still exists (now there are 20 animals - cats and dogs).
In 2011, Belousov was carried away by silk-screen printing and equipped a barn under the printing of prints in the same house where shelter. A few years later, a friend and associate of Belousov, Alexei Gaskarov, was convicted for three and a half years in the “swamp business”, and Belousov began to print t -shirts in his support.
“He was freed in 2016, and I still sometimes see people in those T -shirts that I printed in the barn. The sensations are quite strange, ”says the founder of Barking Store.
In 2017, Belousov decided to try to make several T -shirts with his own prints to support the shelter. Belousov invested 70 thousand rubles - all his savings - in the printing of T -shirts. And they all turned out to be very popular. Soon, Barking Store appeared - a store of clothing and accessories with prints on the topic of animals and with political connotation.

Belousov has been involved in the zooppel activity since the 2000s. He, together with his friends, held the Festival “Voices for Animals”, participated in the campaign against the cutting of the Tsagov and Khimkinsky forests, and opposed the work of circuses with animals.
Barking Store is now helping 50pets to develop and attach dogs and cats in reliable hands - many buyers will learn about the shelter just from the social networks of the store. In the past few years, Belousov with the team has supported small shelters in the regions: it has been invested in the construction of convenient and spacious enclosures and animal boots. At the beginning of 2021, they built a new infrastructure in a private Tomsk shelter, and now they have concentrated their efforts on the Bigdog shelter in Yekaterinburg.
At first, Belousov was engaged in all the processes in the store on his own: he invented prints, made a site, packaged and sent things, corresponded with buyers. The warehouse was at home, he also took orders himself.
Now in Barking Store, in addition to the founder, three employees - all of them not only work in the store, but also engage in human rights and zoo protection. A couple of years ago, a small store opened in Moscow where you can buy a merch Barking Store. Belousov admits that the most important thing for him is “to find a balance between business (capitalist monster) and charity (building a aviary somewhere in the Sverdlovsk region)”.

I have several favorite prints. “Skulbas” - he appeared when they began to massively detain schoolchildren at the protest in 2017. Since then, the situation, in general, has not changed. It seems that this print will always be relevant. I like our ironic print "Dogzilla" on which the puppy destroys the city. Or the one on which Capybara with the paint with the paint is displayed by the inscription All Capybaras Are Beautiful . I also like a whipped cotton sweater , which shows a cat with the inscription "Norma is a neurosis." The cat is redrawn from the author of the book of the same name - the philosopher of Slava Zizhek - we love him.
Many friends, buyers and subscribers rejoice when they meet strangers in our things, and will certainly send us photos. I myself quite often meet strangers in our mercha. And this is a pleasant feeling when in the crowd you seem to recognize your own.
Why help the "foreign agents"?
Belousov says that he regularly reads Medusa, listens to the podcasts and is signed on us in all social networks. He decided to support the media declared by “foreign agents” because he believes that independent journalism is one of the few working public institutions in Russia and its preservation is “a matter of public importance”.
The media, which are now recognized as “foreign agents” in packs, write about important and painful topics that intentionally do not affect official publications. Recent publications about torture in the colonies are visual confirmation. People there are in isolation, and only wide publicity leaves the chances of improving the situation. And so in any field. It is important for society not to hide sores deeper, and officials and security forces strive for the opposite. I have long been familiar with many people from Medusa, Mediazones and Important Stories. I like what they do and how they are not a couple of people behind these names, but professional groups.
The founder of Barking Store admits that he constantly wears clothes from the store, so the collection for “foreign agents” will also be in his wardrobe. He advises customers of merchants and readers of Medusa more often to rest, wash T -shirts at a temperature of no higher than 30 degrees and smack their animals in the nose 🐶🐱
