A silent protest. How Russian regions’ residents reacted to the events in Ukraine without words

Calls to stop the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine are prohibited in Russia. Information about the actions of the Russian army and state bodies abroad that contradicts the authorities' position is considered to be fake. For violating the laws on fakes, discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Russians are punished with administrative fines and criminal cases, which provide for punishment from fines to real prison terms.

Green ribbons
A flash mob with green ribbons was an initiative of Russian activists. People who wear green ribbons and distribute them around the city are being held liable for discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. For example, on April 2, activist Svetlana Marina was detained in Kirov for wearing a green ribbon on her backpack.
