Unidentified drone drops explosives on peacekeepers’ vehicle fleet in Transnistria
An unidentified drone dropped two explosives on the vehicle fleet of the peacekeeping forces in Transnistria, local law enforcement reports.
Transnistria is a self-proclaimed pro-Russian breakaway state internationally recognized as part of Moldova.
The incident took place near the settlement of Vladimirovca. No one was injured, the press service of Transnistria’s Investigative Committee stated.
Presumably, the drone dropped two RGD-5 grenades, the officials informed. Criminal proceedings were launched over an act of sabotage.
Local officials first reported cases of sabotage in Transnistria about a month ago. On 25 April, unknown perpetrators shelled a local state security ministry building from grenade launchers. The next day, two more blasts were reported on the territory of a radio and TV centre in the settlement of Maiac. The perpetrators destroyed two antennas broadcasting Russian radio stations. Transnistria president Vadim Krasnoselsky also reported a terrorist attack at a military unit in the area of the Parcani settlement, located near Bendery. No one was injured in the incidents.
The republic declared a “red” terrorist threat level following the explosions, cancelling the Victory Day parade on 9 May. Schools switched to remote learning until the end of the school year. The republic’s defence ministry also launched reserve duty training exercises.
