Power supply partially cut in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia

Melitopol and Kherson, as well as several other localities in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, have partially lost access to their power grids. The issues in Melitopol were reported by Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the city's occupation “authorities.”

“All of Melitopol is without electricity,” he wrote.

Kirill Stremousov, who calls himself the “deputy head of the military-civil administration” of the Kherson region, said that there was no electricity in Kherson and other residential areas. The reasons for the incident are unknown to him.

Media outlet RBC quoted a local representative of the pro-Russian authorities as saying there was no electricity in Nova Kakhovka.

“Enerhodar has once again found itself on the brink of a humanitarian disaster. Today, due to enemy shelling, the city was left completely without light and water. Now we are finding out how critical the situation is and whether it can be rectified in the near future,” said Energodar Mayor Dmytro Orlov.

On 15 August, the Ukrainian armed forces' Southern Operational Command reported that the Russian military command was withdrawing from Kherson to the left bank of the Dnipro River.

“After the Ukrainian army struck enemy command posts, their commanders very quickly moved to the left bank of the Dnipro river in order to avoid being cut off from safer territory,” said Nataliya Humenyuk, a representative of Ukraine’s Southern Operational Command.
