Berdyansk’s traffic police ‘deputy head’ appointed by Russian occupation government dies from injuries after explosion

Oleksiy Kolesnyk, “deputy head” of the traffic police of Ukraine’s Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhia region, appointed by the Russian occupation government, has died from wounds following an explosion, report Russian news agencies Interfax and RIA Novosti, citing the occupation administration.

According to the state news agency RIA Novosti, the bomb filled with striking elements was attached to a tree. Interfax notes that the explosive device was hanging at the height of over ten feet; it was located near a health centre, in which refugees from Mariupol have been placed.

On 24 August, pro-Russian “head” of a military-civil administration of the village Mykhailivka, Zaporizhzhia region, Ivan Sushko was killed following a car explosion. He died in the hospital as a result of his injuries.

Last week, a Zaporizhzhia partisan movement member told The New York Times about the underground resistance in the occupied territories. According to him, the goal of the partisan movement is to “show [to the occupation troops and the Russian government] that they’re not home, they shouldn’t be settling [in the occupied territories], and they shouldn’t be sleeping peacefully.”
