‘DPR’, following ‘LPR’, also set to hold referendum on joining Russia from 23 to 27 September

The self-proclaimed Donetsk “people’s republic” (“DPR”), following a similar declaration from the Luhansk “people’s republic” (“LPR”), has stated that there would be a referendum on joining the Russian Federation held from 23 to 27 September, reports Russia’s state news agency TASS, citing the “DPR People’s Council”.

The “head” of the “DPR” Denis Pushilin asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to consider accepting the “republic” into the Russian Federation, in case of a “positive decision upon the results of the referendum”. “The long-suffering population of Donbass has earned the right to become a part of the Great Country that it had always considered its Homeland. This [referendum] will restore historical justice, [a moment that] millions of Russians can’t wait to see,” he wrote in a post on his Telegram channel.

Yesterday, 19 September, the public chamber of the self-proclaimed “DPR” asked its “head” Denis Pushilin to urgently conduct a referendum on joining the Russian Federation.

Earlier today, the public council of the occupied Kherson region of Ukraine and the “public movement ‘Together with Russia’” of the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region also asked to urgently hold referendums on the regions entering the Russian Federation.
