Major occupation ‘official’ killed in Kherson

Alexey Katerinichev, the deputy head of the pro-Russian “occupation administration” in Ukraine’s Kherson, was killed by a missile strike, Kirill Stremousov, another deputy head, reports.

Katerinichev was in a building that was hit by two HIMARS missiles. He was appointed to his position on 18 August. He hails from Russia where he served for the frontier forces between 1996 and 2021 before he joined the FSB and then for Russia’s Emergency Ministry’s foreign troops.

Ukraine’s Armed Forces conducted a strike on a hotel in Kherson using HIMARS on 25 September, killing Oleksiy Schuravko, an ex-MP. On his Telegram channel, he expressed his support for the war against Ukraine and called upon Russia to impose an economic blockade of the country.
