Two mobilised men from Russia’s Yekaterinburg region killed in war in Ukraine
Two draftees from the town of Polevskoy, Yekaterinburg region of Russia, Maxim Izgagin and Ilya Korolyov, were killed in the war in Ukraine, Telegram channel Polevskoy Trubach reports.
A colleague of one of the deceased men Irina Komarova confirmed the death of the draftees to Novaya Gazeta. Europe. The exact place where they were killed is unknown.

Irina Komarova used to work with the 27-year-old Izgagin at a porcelain tile factory Piastrella. According to her, the young man’s job was to package tile; he lived with his grandmother who had brought him up instead of his parents. “He was always a positive guy, kind, responsible, and ready to help,” Komarova says.
Several days after the mobilisation announcement, she saw Izgagin and thought that he could have received a draft notice, seeing as he had undergone compulsory military service years before (Izgagin’s social media profile has a photo of him in a military uniform from 2015 - editor’s note). That evening, she called him and confirmed her fears.
“He answers: aunt Irina,
“I received a draft notice today. Well, not received — I went and got it myself. I came home from work, grandma said that someone from the military commissariat had come by. And what about me? I did go and get [the notice]. Why would I run? Don’t wanna do that,”
Komarova recalls her conversation with Izgagin.
According to her, he was mobilised on 27 September. The reports about him “being killed under artillery fire” first appeared from his friends on 19 October. The exact date of his death is unknown.
The second killed draftee from Polevskoy is the 29-year-old Ilya Korolyov, Komarova says. Telegram channel Polevskoy Trubach writes that he was mobilised on 29 September, he was killed in Ukraine less than two weeks later. The circumstances of his death are unknown.
According to the brother of Ilya Korolyov, Egor, the draft notice was sent to his work, and Ilya decided not to evade mobilisation. Egor clarified that his brother had undergone compulsory military service ten years prior.
“A hard-working guy. A kind, compassionate one. He was always ready to help. He worked at a factory. In his free time, he spent his time with his family,” Egor told Novaya Gazeta. Europe.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on “partial” mobilisation in Russia on 21 September. He said that the mobilised men would have to undergo compulsory additional military training before being deployed.
However, there have been reports about draftees without any experience or training being sent to the front. For example, four residents of the Krasnoyarsk region were killed in the Kherson region just a little bit over the week after getting drafted.
Earlier today, it was reported that a 23-year-old draftee from Russia’s Buryatia had been killed. Dmitry Sidorov, mobilised on 22 September, was killed on 4 October “in line of duty during conduction of the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine,” the statement of his native village says.
