Odesa regional authorities: power supply restoration may take up to 2-3 months
Restoring the power supply in Ukraine’s Odesa region after yet another Russian strike may take up to 2 or 3 months, according to the local electricity department.
“We realise how difficult it is to stay with no power supply for so long. If you believe it will be a challenge for you to stay with no electricity, and you have the opportunity to leave the city, then you should do it,” says the address.
A total of 1.5 million people were left with no power supply, says Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky. “We only have critical infrastructure connected to the grid while there is still opportunity to maintain power supply at all,” he said.
Moreover, the city is also experiencing water supply shortages, Dumska cites local residents.
Power supply was switched off in the entire city of Odesa overnight into Saturday after Russia’s attack against the local power infrastructure. Ukraine’s command believes Russia used kamikaze drones to attack Ukraine’s south, including Odesa. It was reported that the country’s air defence systems had managed to take down four Shahed-136 drones over the Kherson region, just as much as over Mykolaiv, and two more over Odesa.
