Argentina wins 2022 FIFA World Cup

Argentina has won against France in a penalty shootout in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.

Argentina’s Lionel Messi scored the first goal of the game, converting a penalty kick at 23’. This was his 26th World Cup game — he became a player with the record number of World Cup appearances.

The second goal was scored against France by Ángel Di María — at 37’.

At the end of the second half, Kylian Mbappé managed to score two goals for France in just two minutes, the first one also from the penalty spot. Thus, the normal time ended with 2:2 on the scoreboard.

In extra time, Messi scored again; then, Mbappé scored a penalty. The score was 3:3.

A penalty shootout that would decide the fate of the World Cup was announced — with Argentina scoring four times against France’s two.
