Military draft notice sent to child who died 14 years ago in Russia’s Yekaterinburg
A Yekaterinburg resident recently received a military draft notice for her son, Sergei Chernoskutov, born in 2006, which instructed the 16-year-old boy to go to a military registration and enlistment office in the city’s Chkalovsky District on January 26, 2023. Sergei Chernoskutov died from hydrocephalus (the build-up of fluids in the cavities deep within the brain) 14 years ago.
According to a report by Yekaterinburg's E1.ru local news website, the notice was dropped in the family’s mailbox, as opposed to being delivered by a military official and signed for. The boy's mother Anastasia told the publication that her son was born prematurely, and had cerebral palsy in addition to hydrocephalus.
