TV Rain to appeal Latvian authorities' decision to revoke station's broadcast license
The independent Russian news station TV Rain plans to appeal the Latvian National Electronic Mass Media Council’s decision to revoke its broadcast license, editor-in-chief Tikhon Dzyadko said on Friday.
Earlier, Latvian media reported that TV Rain had appealed another one of the council’s rulings: its decision to fine the station 4,000 euros (about $4,250) for failing to translate its programs into Latvian. In addition, the network has already paid a 10,000-euro (about $10,620) fine for using the phrase “our army” to refer to Russian troops and using a map that labeled Crimea as part of Russia.
