New additions to Russian justice ministry’s list of ‘foreign agents’: writers, journalists
The Russian Ministry of Justice updated its register of “foreign agents,” which now includes the writers Elena Prokasheva (Elena Malisova) and Katerina Dudko (Katerina Silvanova), authors of the book Summer in a Pioneer Tie, which was pulled from stores in 2022 after a new law banned “LGBT propaganda.”
The updated “foreign agents” list also includes the blogger Nikolay Sobelev; the journalist and host of the YouTube channel Populyarnaya Politika (Popular Politics) Alexander Makashenets; and political scientist and coordinator of the Free Ingria movement, Pavel Mezerin. The justice ministry says each of them spoke out against Russian authorities or in support of Ukraine.
