Russia’s Belgorod region: two teenagers get injured in explosion of WWII shell

Two 17-year-olds were hurt in an explosion of a WWII shell in the Pokrovo-Mikhailovka village in Russia’s Belgorod region.

According to the regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, while the teenagers were gardening they found a rusty shell and decided to take it apart, which led to an explosion. The first teenager received a slight concussion, while the second one suffered shrapnel wounds in both legs and his left arm. He was hospitalised.

Gladkov called upon parents to explain to their children that they should not pick up dangerous objects and try to take them apart on their own. “Due to the current situation in the region, [these talks] should be held daily!” he added.
