Debris of ‘unidentified military object’ found in central Poland
Debris of an “unidentified military object” has been found in central Poland, the country’s Defence Ministry stated on Twitter.
“Parts of an unidentified military object were found near Zamość, about 15 km from Bydgoszcz,” the agency reports. “The situation does not threaten the safety of residents. The location is being investigated by officers of the Police, Military Gendarmerie and sappers.”
Zbigniew Ziobro, Poland’s Minister of Justice, has reported that the Prosecutor’s Office has started an investigation.
Polish radio RMF cites the conclusions of its reporters and says the found object is an air-to-surface missile without a warhead with writings in Russian on it.
“It is unknown if it exploded. It is even several metres long and is stuck in the ground,” RMF says.
In November, following a massive Russian strike on Ukraine, two missiles landed in Poland’s Lublin Voivodeship, killing two people. Polish President Andrzej Duda said that there was nothing to indicate that the rocket fell on the country’s territory on purpose, and called it a “tragic accident.”
