Russian streaming platform fined €39,000 for ‘LGBT propaganda’ among minors
A wrong age movie rating brought the case forward
Start, a Russian streaming platform, has been fined 3.7 million rubles (€39,000) for showing Paolo Genovese’s Perfect Strangers that was marked as 16+, TASS reports. The police report shows that one of the characters in the movie comes out to his friends and the film should be rated 18+ rather than 16+, the agency notes.
The criminal case against the platform was launched in late May. The company representatives already then said that the rating had been fixed.
In early June, the news emerged that the first Russian streaming service had been slapped with a fine for “LGBT propaganda” among minors.
