Ukraine: 494 children killed in 500 days of Russia’s invasion

A total of 494 children were killed during the 500 days of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, says Ukraine’s Office of Prosecutor General.

The agency says over 1,545 children were harmed in Ukraine due to Russia’s armed aggression: as of 8 July,

494 children were killed and over 1,051 were injured.

“This figure is not final. It will be updated as we can clarify details regarding the occupied territories and the combat areas,” the statement reads.

More than 9,000 civilians have been killed in Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. This figure is provided by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. A total of 15,993 people were injured. The regions of Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Kherson, and Luhansk had the most civilian victims.

The UN notes that the actual figure is way higher as only the verified data is being published. In most cases, it takes time to verify information. It is challenging to collect data on the Russia-occupied territories.
