Armenia will become a country where Putin faces arrest if he visits

Yerevan ratifies the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in an interview with national television. “This has no connection with Armenian-Russian relations, but has to do with the issue of security of our country,” he added.

Additionally, Pashinyan stated that “Armenia can no longer rely on Russia as a guarantor of its security” due to the conflict in Ukraine.

If the Rome Statute is ratified, Armenia will become the second country in the South Caucasus where Russian President Putin will have to be arrested upon his entry. Georgia was the first to recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC.
