I have long wanted to tell one wonderful story.
This is a story about a chemical substance that has saved millions of lives. Probably only Penicillin saved more lives. This substance was opened in 1874, but its unique properties were discovered only in 1939. For this, researcher Paul German Müller in 1948 received Nobel.
Thanks to this substance during the 2nd World War, there was no typhoid epidemic. In 1955, WHO began with the help of this substance a program to eliminate malaria in the world. Malaria was destroyed on the Caribbean, Taiwan, the Balkans, and the huge regions of the Pacific Ocean. Millions of lives were saved.
This substance is called DDT.
In 1962, the biologist Rachel Karson-this is Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels of modern eco-activists-published the book The Silent Spring, which was said that DDT was a terrible poison, that the birds were killed, that it poisons people and causes cancer from them.
Since 1972, DDT in the United States has been banned. The whole world followed this example.
Forty years have passed since then. Scientists and eco -activists disguised as scientists have been spent billions of dollars to prove that DDT is carcinogen. Despite this, there is not a single work that proves it. In 2002, Centers for Disease Control was forced to conclude that “a person has no evidence that DDT is not cancer.”
Since then, billions of dollars were spent by scientists and eco -activists masked under scientists to prove that DDT for humans is poison. DDT is not poison. It can be eaten with spoons. Washing powder is impossible, but DDT is possible. It is used as a medicine for barbiturates poisoning.
After forty years of pressure from the environmental lobby and apocalyptic stories in the National Toxicology Program, the USA classifies DDT as “moderately toxic”, and the World Health Organization as “moderately dangerous”.
For half a century that has passed since the books of Karson, DDT and its impact on insects, birds and humans were studied along and across. It is known what proteins it acts and how. It is known how it affects insect neurons. It is known that it is toxic for insects, shrimp and many fish. DDT is really dangerous for birds, because it causes the thickening of the egg shell. It is known how and why it accumulates in the human body. But that the accumulation is harmful - no one could prove.
In 1963, the number of cases of Malaria on Sri Lanka due to DDT decreased from 3,000,000 (three million) a year to 18 (eighteen) per year. By 1968, when DDT was cursed at all intersections, it increased again to six hundred thousand.
Now about 2 thousand people die from malaria every day, according to some reports - up to 4 thousand people a day. Take the lower border - 2 thousand - and multiply for 40 years. These are 29 million people who died from malaria. Suppose that only half of these 29 million on the conscience of Rachel Karson, who saved the bald eagle. 14.5 million people. Rachel Karson killed more people than Hitler burned Jews in the stoves.
But then she had good intentions.
I want to tell the second story. She is not as instructive as the first, but also very much.
Once on the Human Rights Watch (HRW) website, I read a heartbreaking story about a blind black woman who lives in Uganda and who despises her village because the army of salvation of the Lord was raped and she had an illegal child.
At the first moment, when you read such a story, the soul freezes. There is only one thought: how to help this woman? By some thought, you understand that it is impossible to help her with anything. You can transport it to the United States and put it on the Welfer, but there will not be enough welfare for all blind people with illegitimate children with AIDS.
You can give her money, but the villagers will simply rob and kill her from indignation. By and large, she can not help her with anything. She is doomed.
But by some thought, you suddenly understand that something can be helped. Namely: you can help future generations. You can try to make sure that a society is built in Uganda in which the blind man can live, in which they do not despise raped. And certainly it is possible to destroy the army of the Lord’s salvation - a gang of crazy religious fanatics who are fighting in Uganda for 25 years, who scatter human meat wrapped in Bible leaves, and who steal children to make suicide bombers, and from the girls of concubines for their prophet Joseph Koni.
The destruction of the Army of the Lord’s salvation is the absolutely necessary Sine qua non for the normal life of future blind black women in Uganda. And the sighted too.
In general, the very fact is that at the beginning of the XXI century they can exist, and even so long, such groups are absurd. Unimaginable even at the end of the XIX century.
The problem is that, from the point of view of the modern left -time discourse, the army of salvation of the Lord cannot be destroyed. If anyone-anyone: the UN, the USA, Martians-will send the troops in the uganda, who will kill twelve-year-old boys with washed brains exploding on mines, then this someone will be branded by the enemy of mankind, the killer of innocent children, etc.
And if you hint about the fact that it would be nice to colonize again, since Uganda did not come out of Uganda ...
Therefore, no one will take responsibility. The army of salvation of the Lord or something like that will be cannibal. There will still be blind, raped black women, patients with AIDS. But HRW will publish about them stories with calls to sacrifice money for her.
There is such an animal - river cancer. On the example of river cancer, the activity of the nervous system is very often examined, because it is very simple for him. But, despite the fact that it is simple, it is built, like all other nervous systems and computer algorithms in the world, according to the principle of “if”.
Cancer has two problems. Firstly, he wants to eat. Therefore, he crawls into the smell of food. Secondly, he does not want to be eaten. Therefore, when a shadow is approaching it (read, predatory fish), the cancer either freezes or abruptly beats its tail and jumps back.
If it hits his tail, then this occurs as a result of the excitement of two giant neurons that pass along his entire body. If he freezes, another neuron is excited before that.
At the same time, the solution of cancer to jump or freeze depends on a number of factors, namely: on the speed with which the shadow is approaching, and on the proximity of food. If the shadow is fast, the cancer will rather freeze, if slow, it will rather jump. If there is a lot of food, he will rather freeze, if there is little - rather jumps.
This is me to the fact that even the most primitive nervous system is arranged according to the principle of "if." If the shadow is fast, freeze, if slow - jump. If you want to eat - freeze, do not really - jump.
Nervous systems of mammals are even more complicated. The human nervous system is the most difficult, we have a giant brain, which, apparently, was then formed to simulate the endless flowering complexity of social relations “if”.
The only exception to me from this biological rule regarding the structure of the nervous system is the brain of the left liberal.

But this flowering complexity to the left consciousness is not knowledge. DDT is not a rash. This is poison and carcinogen, however, this is not proven, but it may be so, so it’s better not to pour just in case, because Dr. Pupkin in his monograph suggested that a woman from Sri Lanka, who used DDT, has not proved, but we suggest that it is not excluded in his philanthropy, the chest cancer will be. We saved her, we did not let her die of breast cancer! True, she and all her children died of malaria, but this does not concern us.
