**** there is, but no word

The text continues the project on the Ecology "Variable" .

Since the beginning of this year, the US Department of Agriculture has delicately recommended that employees avoid the phrase “climate change” if possible. In electronic correspondence, which is referred by the Gardian newspaper, instead of “climate change” it is proposed to talk about “extreme weather phenomena”, instead of “adaptation to climate change” - about “sustainability” to such phenomena. Instead of “reducing greenhouse gas emissions”, the ministry specialists recommend “accumulating carbon in the soil”.

The official representatives of the ministry came up with a good reason for such substitutions: they say, the topic of climate change can be “not close” to ordinary American farmers, and they must be said, first of all, by terms that are most relevant for them - this is just extreme weather and protection of fertile soils. But the required effect is clearly achieved, since ordinary employees of the ministry services are already interested in whether they can even mention the climate change in their scientific works, published not on behalf of the department.

For those who monitor the topic, the story with undesirable terminology is just another neat piece of the puzzle that lies next to the removal of climatic information from the web pages of the agency for environmental protection and manicure editing of all government sites, where the influence of a person on the climate is at least somehow mentioned. Thus, the Donald Trump administration, in his own words, brings his materials in line with the policy of the new president, who called the climate change “the Chinese conspiracy” and called for the termination of this Global Warming Bullshit - for lovers, journalists even collected an almost complete collection of presidential tweets on this subject.

(Trump, this lord of alternative reality, where it does not rain in his inauguration, and three million illegal immigrants have voted in the elections for some time. True, people with whom he speaks directly with the help of Twitter and Rally tell about homosexuality, which chemicals in the water are caused by frogs , and other fantastic stories of the same caliber. The Chinese for the destruction of American industry is, in general, somehow even shallow even.)

The only problem is that, as in a famous joke, it turns out awkwardly - there is a change in climate, but there is no word. Almost simultaneously with the history of the Language Police, Newyork Times published a lot of material about the draft of the traditional report on the problem of climate change, prepared by scientists from 13 government structures. The newspaper was indicated by the scientists themselves, who are afraid that the White House simply will not let him publish it in the current form.

The report states that the testimonies of climate change "is everywhere, from the upper layers of the atmosphere to the depths of the ocean." “We have a lot of data that human activity, especially greenhouse gas emissions, is the main reason for the observed climate change recently,” the authors of the report write. Moreover, the report methodically lists the consequences of climate change, which can be observed now: warming through almost the entire territory of the United States and especially in Alaska, heavy precipitation in some places and drought in others and so on.

Trump is the lord of alternative reality, where it does not rain on his inauguration, and three million illegal immigrants voted in the elections. The conspiracy of the Chinese to destroy American industry is, in general, somehow even small even small.

The previous republican administration, George Bush Jr., chose a strategy of stops on uncertainty: there are many of them in this climate science of yours, so let's not do anything yet (that is, we will not ratify the Kyoto Protocol). Almost immediately after the election, Bush asked the academicians to present him a report about these very uncertainty: for some reason, Russian climatic negators love to refer to this document -they say, everything has already been stolen before us in 2001. Meanwhile, it says that all the main conclusions of climatologists are confirmed, no matter what.

At present, Bush, who pushed scientists from making political decisions and pedalized natural uncertainty for any science, looks rather herbivore. At least with him in the United States, at least active climatic studies continued. Trump, on the other hand, appoints open climatic negators and people without a scientific background to the leading posts of open climatic denials, and the posts of their deputies (which, as often happens, are sometimes more important than the bosses themselves) simply does not appoint anyone, thus paralyzing the work of departments.

The new American government, apparently, decided to shut up my mouths with a scientist with a sort of conspiracy of silence at the highest level, in which the climate change, as a Soviet dead man, or nothing, or strictly along the party line. It would seem that it is possible to successfully plug the mouth to the one on whose side liberal -minded journalism and personal twitter? Unfortunately, in the history of the United States there is a sad example of how politics eventually strangled science, and it is associated with Trump's best friends - the National Rifle Association. In the mid-1990s, she managed to lobby for the full blocking of federal financing for research of firearms and the associated mortality, and this ban still has not been canceled.

True, there is an alternative scenario in which scientists will more or less calmly continue to conduct their work and publish anxiety reports, and the White House, in turn, will continue to plug ears and loudly sing “La-la-la-la-la”. If you weigh everything, it is perhaps preferable: firstly, it is just fun, and secondly, the Americans spend money on climatic science, which, in which case, will not be easy to replace.

While American politics walks in a circle - again the president who does not believe in the climate change, and again the international agreement, which he refuses - it is important for Russia, as they said at the school at the controls, look at his work. In 2004-2005, when the fate of the Kyoto Protocol was decided, we did not have any of our own climatic policy, and scientists were distinguished only by a very funny statement that the warming document discriminated against the “coldest country in the world”.

Now, it seems that we really have activity not only in scientific circles, but also “in the field”: in any case, from those who want to tell about their work at the climate forum of cities in Moscow, do not push through. I hope this is a good sign for the Paris Agreement and the climate.
