The head of Badr, one of the three main groups that make up the Shiite United Alliance, Hadi al-Ameri told EFE that "these elections... marked a turn in the right direction and marked the opening of a new chapter in the democratic life of Iraq." The representative of the Sunni Iraqi Accord Front, Adnan al-Dulaimi, agrees with him, saying that election day symbolizes the unity of the country, where “there are no differences between Shiites and Sunnis, Kurds and Arabs, Christians and Muslims.”
