At the last meeting, the leaders of Russia and Japan concluded a memorandum on simplifying the visa regime between the countries. But the peace treaty remains unsigned, which, Vladimir Putin is convinced, hinders the development of economic cooperation, in particular, it restrains the influx of Japanese investment into Russia. The number one task in relations between the two countries is to eliminate this misunderstanding. The Russian President hopes to resolve it soon in Moscow; the Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has already accepted an offer to come here.
