Barack Obama had not yet managed to win, and a lot of good and differently was written about the possible consequences of this victory for Russian-American relations.
I would single out three main approaches to this topic.
The first approach. The most elementary and popular. As heard, it is written. Obama is calm, tolerant. Well, Negro ... Well, now to do. Everyone has their own shortcomings. But he is pretty and young. And not shifted for distrust of Russia. At least you can talk to him.
The second approach. The worse the better. McCain is worse. And so he is better. Supporters of this rather popular point of view nest, on the one hand, in Russian power structures, and not only in power. They proceed from the fact that political confrontation with the United States is a glorious and useful thing, in any case, for them personally, and old McCain is just the guy with whom to mentally get to advance is a pleasure. He is in his bold for 70 and with a psyche, hardened by the efforts of Vietnamese comrades - just what is needed to play a cold war.
On the other hand, there are representatives of a radical opposition among Russian fans of McCain. These kind people are sure that a real, self -respecting American president must make a goat in constant mode in constant mode. If he does not, then he is not a real American president. We do not need such an American president. Well, then - see the previous paragraph.
The third approach. Barbar, but in many ways true: by the figure, who is the president. All one will not be friends with us. But it will not reach the war. So does not sway. Obama-Mama, McCain Papa. One hell.
But this is all the saying. A fairy tale is not about that.
It's time to remind the banality that although our, purely Russian angle of view for the result of the American elections is explained and justified, for the Americans themselves, as it is easy to guess, it is not the most important. For them, their own life is much more important: taxes, pensions, social support programs, etc. And only then, far in the background - a foreign policy in which, in turn, Russia is not one of the leading priorities.
But there is one feature of these elections, which already, regardless of how Barack Obama has shown itself as President, made Tuesday after the first Monday of November 2008 one of the most important dates in the history of the United States of America.
The other day, one of the NTV-Plus channels showed the old, cult American film “The Bulk Southern Night” (the original name “Bruttered night in Mississippi”) in the main role-young Sydney Poitier, the first famous actor of African American origin. Plot: High class expert from Philadelphia accidentally finds himself in a stop town and helps to investigate the murder. But the main thing is not this. The main thing is that it is black. And he is proud. And the town is South. And in the courtyard - 1967. In the American south, the horse was not yet lying, everywhere the inscriptions “only for the whites”, the black are second -grade creatures. A year later, in 1968, Martin Luther King was killed by racist.
It was exactly 40 years ago. And now everyone was convinced: America can be proud of what managed to do in these 40 years. This is more important than the level of GDP. And more important than unconditional world leadership. And more important than flight to the moon. Since GDP, with all due respect, is just a soulless economic indicator. World leadership is great to amuse pride, but brings a lot of problems together with responsibility. And the flight to the moon is their completely symmetrical answer to our Gagarin - just a manifestation of state self -affirmation and self -love. A beautiful manifestation, but no more. Act of sovereign narcissism. A little later, one of the applicants, in my opinion, Johnson, threw the phrase: “If we are able to send a rocket to the moon, then we must be able to provide the old woman with a worthy pension.” And this meant that America experienced the space complex.
Other complexes were more difficult to survive. The most ancient, deepest - racial, national. One hundred years have passed since the Civil War, since the time of Lincoln, who canceled slavery, but psychologically little has changed. Really civil war by the 60s. XX century did not end.
The point in it is set now, and this point was set by the election of Barack Obama. 40 years of stupid, ridiculous political correctness, with a ban on the word “Negro” itself, so familiar, short and simple, with a ban on everything - including hints, jokes, including information in the criminal chronicle. On everything that someone’s national feelings can somehow hurt. 40 years of work of this terrible Hollywood, where in every action movie there are two policemen, one of which is necessarily black, and he cannot be bad.
These forty years had fruit. There was a real revolution in the American public consciousness. Its essence is that in the head of an ordinary American, a simple man, not burdened by either an excess form, nor an abundance of serious books read, centuries -old prejudices gave way to common sense. Just everything. But this is precisely what is called “tolerance”.
First - forced, dictated by fear of punishment or public censure, then - familiar and, finally, sincere.
When Dr. King pronounced his famous: “I have a dream,” he had exactly what he meant.
Although he could not even dream of the Black President.
