Under the flag

On August 22, the United Democratic Movement "Solidarity", together with the organization of White House defenders "August-91", will hold a rally dedicated to the events of 1991. The rally will begin at 12.00 near the memorial sign “Defenders of Free Russia” at the intersection of New Arbat and the Garden Ring.

The collection is scheduled for 11.00 at the Krasnopresnenskaya metro station. The mayor's office denied the movement the right to hold a traditional procession.

“We call on everyone who defended their freedom then, in 1991, everyone who defends their freedom now, under the new regime, everyone who needs freedom, to gather on the day of the Russian national flag,” says the movement’s website.

The slogans of the action: “August 91 – victory of freedom and solidarity.” “Dmitry Komar, Ilya Krichevsky, Vladimir Usov... we will not forget your feat!”, “Putin! Remember the lessons of August 1991!”, “Lubyanka, know your place!”, “Our flag is our victory!”.

The protesters will unfurl a huge Russian flag. Leaders of the Solidarity movement, candidates for Moscow City Duma deputies supported by the movement, and defenders of the White House will speak at the rally.
