Former senator from the Novosibirsk region Alexey Manannikov, who became almost the main dissident in the region (they even tried to apply punitive psychiatry measures against him), was sentenced to a fine of 150 thousand rubles for speaking about the federal judge who was considering his appeal. The piquancy of the situation is that Manannikov allowed himself to make a statement not within the walls of the court, but on a blog. Nevertheless, the jury found him guilty of insulting the judge.
Manannikov sees a precedent in this: he recalls that previously the Supreme Court has repeatedly noted that insulting a judge or expressing contempt of court is considered as such only if committed in the courthouse. The former senator, and now a public figure and head of the human rights foundation "Vena-89", will appeal the verdict.
