On February 15, the Georgian parliament adopted a resolution where the actions of Russian peacekeepers in South Ossetia are regarded as an “attempt at annexation” and demanded their withdrawal and replacement with the OSCE contingent. “I will try to convince the Russian side of the need for the steps of a peaceful settlement that Georgia proposes,” said Georgy Khaindrava. According to the tradition that has developed in discussing the conflict, the Russian side will apparently uncompromisingly defend its own peacekeeping scenario.
