The last hero

Gagarin was our last hero. And who else over the past half a century would have been in the national mind an absolutely positive hero? We have few of them at all, and over these 50 years - one he, the first astronaut of the Earth.

A strange policy of our state. I do not know what they want to raise, what patriotism and from what knees - but they come up with from scratch on from scratch on November 4. The day when it is even really incomprehensible what happened. The victory over the Poles is supposedly, about which for no reason they remembered after 400 years! The holiday, which so far has been only the gloomy aspects of our nature and did not please anyone except the nationalists. Having replenished the list of other dubious dates, from which, except for the opportunity not to go to work and drink vodka, there is no sense.

Meanwhile, there is April 12th. The day when a historical event really happened. Really worldwide. Which we can really be proud of. Cosmonautics Day, of course, is no longer as susal as it was 25 years ago. Then all the events associated with the Gagarinsky flight were extremely perfect, everything was filled with romance, poetics and heroics. Which, alas, did not reflect the true picture. Now this approach is not fashionable. It would be fashionable that Gagarin would fly drunk so that he glues the entire cabin of the ship while flying, so that Khrushchev would dance on the table, and Korolev and his associates launched the ship to the stars and did not know where he flies and how to land. Such products are also enough now.

But this does not change the essence of the matter. It was our country that launched the first person into space. After all, I launched? Didn't all this come up with the propagandists from the CPSU and the KGB? And the fact that not everything was there was dressed and smooth, this is understandable. And people went to the pole with adventures, and not suddenly climbed to Everest, and Columbus thought that he sailed to India. So I think that under all newly discovered circumstances, Gagarin was still a hero. And the hero is universally positive. And almost everyone who is now about sixty, they say that there was no more in their life the same stormy and spontaneous glee as April 12, 1961. And who is older recall on May 9, 1945.

So April 12 is a ready -made holiday that could replace at least the same on November 4. A holiday that all citizens of the country would recognize. Which would give an occasion to recall the achievements that we really had, and not invented by the authorities. Which would not encourage the goathered to go to the slogans about the Jews, Khachi and Russia.

But April 12 is not a holiday, but just a date. After which we fit into history most often not heroic pages, and truly national heroes we no longer have a single one.
