Recent events in Russia indicate an increasing polarization of our society. Last week, its symbols were the impressive success of the democratic opposition forces in the municipal elections in Moscow on September 10 and the hundred thousandth procession in St. Petersburg on September 12, which was also under the slogans against the film "Matilda". It seems more and more that within the country there are two societies, the ideals and aspirations of which have a very conditional attitude towards each other.
However, this fact itself is surprising (it could be noticed five and ten years ago), but something else - understanding the outlined trends in circles that claim to be adequate perception of reality (I specifically do not call them “democrats”, “liberals”, “intelligentsia”, “creative class” or other similar term). The dominant interpretation is a description of what is happening as a kind of struggle of “liberal” (“pro -Western”, “secular”) and “conservative” camps for influence on power, for determining the further direction of the country's development. "Creative intelligentsia", protecting Cyril Serebrennikov; entrepreneurs expressing cautious sympathies to Vladimir Yevtushenkov; economists and political scientists enthusiastically participating in the preparation of programs of Alexei Kudrin; Journalists who are eager for the excuses of Alexei Ulyukaev-all these people seem to sincerely believe that somewhere upstairs they do not know what is happening in the country, or do not understand what exactly should be done so that it develops more successfully.
For me, this approach is incomprehensible. I can’t understand why the audience seriously discussed for more than a year whether Vladimir Putin would go to the polls in 2018. Thought stops when reading articles on the discussion of the same Kudrin and the Stolypin club about the economic strategies of the next decade, the authors of which prove that we are facing a fateful choice.
