The authorities don't lie.
She openly sent a black mark to society - there will be no elections to the Duma. There will be a “referendum”. A unique case in history is a referendum where the question is not formulated.
As a result of this referendum, what rights and responsibilities will the “national Putin” receive – and what citizens who voted for him?
National Putin receives any rights and responsibilities he wants - if there is no question, then there is no answer, there are no restrictions on rights/responsibilities.
“Do you trust?” - “We trust.”
What we “trust”, under what conditions and for how long, is unknown. After all, they forgot to ask us about this. And we were embarrassed to ask about it (or didn’t think about it).
We only know who we trust. This is enough for Russia, the rest is unimportant. Trust or lose. Trust - with your heart.
They trusted.
As a result, citizens will receive in relation to the “Trusted Leader” those rights/responsibilities that he wishes to allocate to them.
This is clear.
They offer us to buy a pig in a poke. The people for the most part willingly agree - they think that the purchase is free, like voting papers. He was wrong, our good people - the absence of a price tag does not mean “free”. This means priceless. It has no price - after all, people buy it. The trap is open - hurry for the cheese, the bag is untied - feet first.
What can and should sighted people do in this situation?
It must be borne in mind that this is quite likely the last minimally free election for many years to come. Of course, this may not be the case. But it would be nice – for a change – to once again follow the old wisdom: “hope for the best, prepare for the worst.” And don’t “love” the authorities in the Russian way, but don’t trust them in the American way.
So: to go or not to go. That's the question.
If you don’t go for any reasons (holy indignation, etc.), then your noble non-interference in your own destiny simply drowns in the swamp of stupid indifference of those tens of millions who don’t go because they are lazy and reluctant. In fact, you - with any of your experiences - are in their herd. The authorities and the opposition ignore you - silent ballast.
There is an often repeated consideration - I don’t want to increase their turnout.
Don't worry - it won't increase. There is no turnout threshold, but according to all data, over 70% of Russian citizens will come anyway. Your appearance/no-appearance is inexpensive.
But your vote for the opposition is worth tens of times more – because at most 3-4% will vote for it (SPS + Yabloko).
One more consideration: the opposition still doesn’t get into the Duma, my vote goes to United Russia. This is not true. By law, seats in the Duma are divided in proportion to the ratio of votes received by parties that pass the 7 percent threshold. This means that your voice does not participate in this accounting.
Another consideration: it is better to vote for the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. Even if they get into the Duma, there will still be “opposition”. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation are official Stalinists. They have only one complaint against Putin - that he is not a sufficient Stalinist. He argues little with the West. If you have these views, no problem. If not like that, don’t vote for the Stalinists.
And most importantly, forget about the Duma.
I told you - a referendum. And they don't joke with you.
Are you for or against Putin ruling the country as an obscure “national leader”, with powers unknown to anyone? Please answer this question.
This is the last time you will be asked anything else.
Without a doubt, the overwhelming majority, having no idea what they are doing or why, will say “we are for it.”
But the authorities are as cowardly as they are aggressive. It’s not for nothing that she rushes like mad at the powerless opposition, at these same “jackals”. She - the authorities - is afraid to take a decisive step into the abyss. At least part of the authorities (and the leader himself) are clearly afraid.
They need a super guarantee - 90% (from voters, others don’t exist at all). Hence the pathological fear of “orange revolutions”. What is it? This is the indignation of the people over a violation of the law and the Constitution.
By holding a referendum, the authorities want to receive in advance an indulgence from the people for any actions - along and across any law. And they know that even a small group of people can hinder them in this matter.
The obedient majority is passive. And the dissenting minority can be active. This is what the authorities are afraid of. Well, of course, the authorities are not afraid of Kasparov and Nemtsov, with their 3,000 supporters.
We need to show her that there are many more opponents of “experiments on trust”. Yes, they are not 20-30% of the population. But not 1-2%.
This is what the fight is for today. For every percentage. Therefore, every voice weighs.
I wouldn’t invite anyone to the barricades, not even to marches, not even to rallies. Everyone takes risks alone. But a much greater risk is not going to the polling station in such conditions and not voting. This means losing not “civic conscience,” but something much simpler—the instinct of self-preservation.
And one last thing. I campaigned for the Union of Right Forces. This irritated many people. Dreamy and distrustful democrats saw some kind of scam here, etc.
Today it doesn't matter anymore. SPS, Yabloko (even though they behave extremely cowardly) - no problem. The referendum does not involve such subtle differences.
"For" or "against". “Abstain” is equivalent to “for”. That's it.
PS I know that many were interested in who “Suvarin” is, why he writes under a pseudonym, why exactly under that one.
Believe me, there are reasons for everything.
But why think about Souvarine? Think about yourself!
