Sofya Apfelbaum, director of Ramta, came to work on Tuesday. Long before eleven in the morning, for which Alexei Borodin appointed a collection of the troupe. On the table in her office there are roses, lilacs, tulips. On Tuesday in the theater, a day off, but, as his artistic director said, “the event we were waiting for so,” and everyone came. Sofya Mikhailovna still joyfully repeated: “Oh, I am not ready!”, But on the way to the Great Hall, she said with concern: “Where was the leak?”

She was met with a thunder of applause. Borodin said: "A man returned, without whom we cannot imagine our life!"

She went into the main passage, turned to face the audience and said a little bewildered:

- ... Yesterday there was another reality. Grand -shaped thanks to all of you! Thanks for all the sweets, all the flowers, all cans with cucumbers! My kitchen was like a pantry! Thanks for Misha ( son. - M. T. ), whom you took care of! I’m not talking about Alexei Vladimirovich at all, this is our pride, such an artistic director. I watched at home all the premieres are shot and I can say: you are huge well done. I will try very hard to delve into everything, unfortunately, I can’t attend all the time, because everything continues ... The result of this story is not a foregone conclusion. She is absolutely unprecedented and, I think, will go down in the history of the Russian theater. Like our theater entered its stamina.

There are more and more bouquets, Sofya Mikhailovna already hardly holds them in her hands ...

The most difficult moment is the first. Because you think: everything will turn away from you. On that day, Apfelbaum with a lawyer went for interrogation, and suddenly a girl-producer came in and took her passport. Sophia then did not understand that she would be arrested. When the charge was charged, it looked so monstrously awkward that her main reaction was bewilderment. Even her lawyer was surprised at this reaction.

Handcuffs . You can get used to everything, but not to what you need to be in handcuffs. And not to the fact that you cannot go anywhere and you can’t do anything. When you find yourself in the Investigative Committee, inside this mechanics, an existential experience comes, which I only read about before.

The video poll went for three hours. Investigators quickly realized that it was useless to put pressure on her. To exclude lawyer comments, they recorded on the camera.

Colleagues behaved differently. The ministerial employees were brought into the premises in which the already arrested Apfelbaum was located, and they said: say thank you to Sofya Mikhailovna that she did not say you, otherwise they sat next to you. After that, the former departments colleagues began to confirm everything that was proposed by the investigation.

It turned out to be very strange at home . But, finally, she read the forces accumulated for the future, for example, the diaries of the director of the Imperial theaters of Telyakovsky. Borodin sent the play. And time began to work for her: always loaded over her head, under house arrest she was able to study the project declared criminal in detail: everything that was in open sources and documents. And she wrote many pages of explanations, they may be useful.

The performance at the trial at the very beginning of the process was a lot. She knew: her position will not change. And what already expressed everything, in a strange way facilitated the condition.

The confrontation with Nina Maslyaeva, the chief accountant of the Seventh Studio and the main witness of the prosecution, struck an open, aggressive lie. The investigator practically dictated to her what to say. It turned out that she came to the ministry, and there she was corrected financial reports. A terrible, insulting phrase: “You ruled me reports” ...

The thought of parents tormented all this time the most.

The accused as the processing comrades met for the first time in January 2018, when the investigation ended. This moment was happiness - finally talk, feel the shoulder, understand the common position.

Apfelbaum lawyer Irina Porovinova is not waiting for a sentence or justification. However, he hopes that according to the results of the process there will be a subsequence and reformulation of the prosecution. There is - and it’s stupid not to admit this, she believes, - violations, first of all, are not paying taxes, and we must calculate everything, make the amount.

The support was huge. She did not even expect her on such a scale. And the sea of ​​human discoveries are good and bad.

Accusation : The most unthinkable in it, Sophia believes, is the amount. The very assumption that you can make such a project and at the same time steal two -thirds of the money. First, a million, then 68 million and, finally, twice as much. And then the accused began to laugh.

The fake of the interrogation of the witness Voikina, on the basis of which the charge was formulated, is so obvious that the investigation did not argue with this, recognized the document invalid. And this is one of the main grounds for a new examination.

Postscript . The process will continue on April 12th. The fact that the defendants were released under a recognizance not to leave, does not mean anything, and even more so does not guarantee. This is just a sip of freedom - the first in a year and a half.
