On February 1, the broadcasting of Russian television was further reduced in Belarus. In the evening, Belarusians will not be able to watch RTR programs, and in general there will be no broadcasts of the Kultura channel in the republic. President Alexander Lukashenko explained the restriction by the need to develop regional broadcasting, as well as the desire to save fellow citizens from "violence and shooting."
The forceful decision of the “father” caused inability among the Belarusians. Of course, we need to develop local TV, but what kind of shooting is on Kultura, the only channel where there are no annoying ads for diapers and pads...
- And the Belarusians will not see the new program of Savik Shuster. Now we will have to listen to varnishing news in the spirit of Soviet TV, - Oleg Bebenin, a member of the Belarusian opposition Charter-97, commented on the innovation, - Russian channels carried truthful information, albeit unpleasant for someone in Belarus. In our country, they are silent about the fact that the standard of living has sharply decreased, only the rent has increased six times, and the income of citizens has not increased. The government forbids alternative information. Any censorship is associated with politics. We do not see TVS (the sixth button either disappeared or did not appear), we do not hear "Mayak", "Youth" - not because someone did not pay for the frequency. But because before the elections, the authorities are afraid of the truth.
