Alexander Glezer died

On June 4, a poet, translator, publisher and collector Alexander Glezer died in Paris at the age of 82.

Alexander Davidovich Glezer was born in Baku in 1934, graduated from the engineering and economic faculty of the Moscow Oil Institute, worked as an engineer.

Since the beginning of the 1960s, he has been engaged in literary translation, since 1967 he collected works of non-conformist artists. In 1974, he became one of the organizers of the Bulldozer Exhibition, shortly after the dispersal of which was forced to leave the USSR.

In 1975 he emigrated to France. He was able to pick up only part of his collection (80 of 500 paintings), the remaining paintings were later transported through diplomatic channels.

In 1976, he founded a museum of modern Russian art in the Monheron near Paris in exile ( CASE , now Mora , has been in Jersey City, USA since 1980). He organized hundreds of exhibitions of modern Russian art in different countries of the world, founded the publishing house "Third Wave", compiled the anthology "Russian poets in the West."

The author of poetic collections and books about modern Russian art. Since 1994, he was published and performed in Russia, partially transferred the work of the Third Wave publishing house to Moscow, published books by Joseph Brodsky, Henry Sapgira, Evgeny Rhine, Vladimir Ufland and other authors.

The funeral of Alexander Gleser will take place on June 8 in Paris at the Saint-Genevieve-de-Bois cemetery.
