The leaders of the democratic opposition probably wanted to make a joint statement in any case, but perhaps this thorn - the accusation of inability to DO ANYTHING TOGETHER - played a role and accelerated the process a little.

By the way, it’s funny that A. Lukashenko also woke up from sleep at the same time. I don’t know what kind of thorns they slipped into Russia’s faithful friend, but 10 days after the start of the conflict, he spoke out: “I don’t interfere, and Russia is right in everything.” Such a loyal ally is expensive - several billion a year.

Clearly, the opposition MUST talk about the “failure of the Kremlin’s policies.”

But, to be honest, I wouldn’t be in a hurry about “failure”.

Of course, Russia is condemned - what else remains NATO? But it’s sluggish, there’s no sign of any sanctions.

And when the suddenly transformed Foreign Minister of England sang Lazarus—Russia must be included in the WTO and not excluded from the G8—it didn’t seem like “isolation.”

This is a difficult question...

Here you have force against force. And power versus right. Lots of things.

I have already written that Russia considers the OBVIOUS weakening of the United States its trump card. “Comrade old wolf” no longer “eats and listens to no one.” And according to the feeling (not even the thought, the INSTINCT) of the Kremlin - “seize the moment.” The time has come for the young wolves. Here it is, finally, it has come - to build a “MULTI-WOLF WORLD”. Grab the station - the suitcase is leaving...

And the first experience of openly baring fangs - according to Moscow - was quite successful. Not everything was successful, Saakashvili stayed put, but on the whole the matter burned out.

Strength - above all, strength of character - was shown. And strength breaks straw. “Isolation” turned out to be both verbal and full of holes. The CIS countries seem to be shaking with fear. But Georgia did not even dare to break off diplomatic relations.

So “the path is open to success,” as our anthem says,” as Schweik said.

I still believe that “escalation of will” is disastrous for Russia, that these victories are Pyrrhic. That the “path of the wolves” leads straight into the wolf pit. Even if we take only “geopolitics”, on which our top leaders have slightly changed their minds, then the fight against the West is an extremely stupid undertaking. Russia, other than the desire to show the “fig of ambition” (and show it only and exclusively to the West), has no clear goals - but, say, China (on the “Siberian issue”), Iran (on the “Caspian issue”) have quite SPECIFIC interests. And in this situation, it makes sense for Russia to rely on the rotten (really rotten!), hypocritical (definitely hypocritical), “not loving us” (I don’t understand what that means, but I believe) West.

But the people and the party obviously think differently. Quite different.

In any case, opposition in Russia is necessary.

Yes, it will not be able to become a “brake” on the path (which, I repeat, seems to me to be the path to a cliff), but at least the politicians from the opposition will have a clear conscience: they did what they could, let the one who is smarter do more.
