Disgraced Senator

The Bashkir parliament recalled its representative Igor Izmestyev from the Federation Council, the decision was made by an overwhelming majority - 89 out of 97 deputies voted in favor. The deputies’ appeal states that the Bashkir senator is the general director of BrokTradeOil LLC (Moscow), that is, he is engaged in entrepreneurial activities, which is prohibited by the law “On the status of a member of the Federation Council.” Izmestiev himself claims that “the documents on the basis of which I am accused are fake” and is going to contact the prosecutor’s office. True, his supporters are inclined to think that the reason is more likely to be the excessive free-thinking of the Tomsk mayor and the election lists of United Russia.
