The scandal with the accusations brought against the vice-president of YUKOS is developing according to a scenario that is already painfully familiar to everyone: search, arrest, hunger strike, punishment cell. Vasily Aleksanyan announced a dry hunger strike on April 7, the day of his arrest, and today it became known that the executive director of YUKOS was placed in the punishment cell of the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center for refusing to undergo a medical examination. The lawyer, who only today managed to meet with Aleksanyan for the first time since the day of his arrest, said that his client “feels and looks fine.”
