The Altai Territory has found an unconventional way to replenish the local budget. The regional administration allowed Roscosmos to use the territory of the region as a landing area for spent stages of rockets launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. Monetary compensation after the official confirmation of the status of a space dump in some areas of the region will increase from 3.5 to 5.5 times. This should be just enough to compensate for possible damage to the health of residents of the Altai Territory.
